Context anchors anchor evolving schedules by marking non-negotiables as fixed points in the 4D workspace. Once set, they act as visual and functional reference lines—departments build toward or away from them without redefining the core milestone. This prevents cascading drift when one team’s shift forces others to recalculate around a shifting goal.
To set an anchor, select a date and click ‘pin’—it becomes a subtle, color-coded marker across all open timelines. Teams use anchors for legal deadlines, venue bookings, or creative locks. Even when upstream changes occur, anchors hold steady, letting downstream teams adjust buffers instead of redoing alignment.
Anchors also support parallel planning: one team can lock a deliverable date while another refines the path to it. The pin remains visible, often labeled, so zooming or scrolling never loses the reference. Over time, anchors become shared shorthand—teams say ‘after the first light anchor’ instead of quoting exact dates.
