Roxie’s Red Marbling stands out for its marbled flesh and bright, slightly tart finish that balances its natural sugars. The fruit is medium-sized, round, and ribs slightly, with thin but resilient skin. It performs best in moderate climates with long, warm days and needs consistent watering to avoid stress-induced bitterness.
This variety is indeterminate, so it continues producing until frost. It benefits from high organic matter in soil and responds well to foliar compost tea sprays during fruit set. In humid regions, space plants appropriately for airflow and minimize foliar disease. It lacks strong documented disease resistance, so rotate crops and avoid planting in tomato-affected beds for at least a few years.
Because it’s a less common heirloom, seed stocks are limited and often held by specialty collectors. Grow it as a novelty crop or in a dedicated heirloom plot where its unique marbling can be appreciated. Fruit ripens uniformly once the first shoulder blushes, and holding them at room temperature post-harvest deepens the internal marbling pattern.
