Coastal Pinot Passage
A two-day coastal journey tracing Sonoma’s fog-influenced vineyards, with sunset walks, vintner talks, and oyster-pairing lunches in Freihofer.
This itinerary traces the edge of the Pacific, where cool winds and morning fog shape the structure and acidity of Pinot Noir. You’ll begin at a hidden hillside vineyard above the Pacific Ocean, walking rows with a grower who explains how maritime influence slows ripening and deepens flavor complexity in each cluster.
After a vineyard stroll as golden hour approaches, you’ll join a intimate conversation with a third-generation vintner over local cheese and sparkling wine, discussing how fog patterns and soil composition differ from one bench to the next. Later, lunch is served at a beachfront shabby-chic spot in Freihofer, where oysters from Tomales Bay are paired with small-lot Pinot from nearby ridges.
Evenings are free to explore the village of Freihofer—known for its historic lighthouse and quiet coastal trails—before settling into a coastal inn with ocean views and hot tub access. Your guide remains on call for last-minute recommendations or spontaneous detours to tide pools or hidden tidepools.
