VFX Shot Pipeline
A time-based sequence with model approval gates, buffer days, and render queue capacity slots mapped to shot deliverables.
Each shot slot holds three review gates—concept, model, and animation—each with a fixed buffer before the next. If model approval slips, the render queue slot slides but the render slot itself stays locked until approval. You can see at a glance which shots are pending gate sign-off versus queued for render, helping TDs prioritize early.
Teams import this pattern when launching a new season or campaign. The render queue slots are sized to your studio’s daily output capacity—no guessing if a shot fits in the weekend batch. You can drag individual shot blocks to reschedule, but the system flags conflicts where multiple high-priority shots vie for the same render slot.
The pattern keeps VFX under editorial control by tying gates to shot states, not just due dates. Producers see which shots need more time before rendering kicks in, while artists see their approval deadlines. Changing a model gate deadline updates all downstream slots without touching the render hardware schedule.
