Time-parameter curves
Visually map construction schedules or environmental cycles onto geometry using keyframe-based curve editors.
Time-parameter curves let you translate linear or custom schedules into dynamic behaviors on 3D components. Attach a curve to a wall panel, and define how its transparency, material, or position changes across days or stages—without writing code. The curve editor resembles familiar tools like audio waveform or animation timelines, letting you set breakpoints and smooth interpolation with drag-and-drop.
Start by importing a Gantt-style schedule from your project plan. 4D Studio parses dates into keyframes and aligns them with geometry instances—such as individual columns, mechanical units, or temporary supports. You can refine timing, duration, and easing on the fly, previewing changes instantly in the viewport. This tight coupling helps catch timing conflicts before field mobilization.
Use curves to model repetitive, rhythmic behaviors like lighting cycles, mechanical startups, or material degradation. You can offset curves per level or zone and combine multiple curves with simple math to create layered responses—like adjusting both massing and lighting based on the same time axis. The system preserves all edits for later export to simulation engines or reporting tools.
