USPS Commercial Mail Receiving Agencies (CMRAs) like The UPS Store or Mail Boxes Etc. offer USPS-approved business addresses and lockboxes. Many accept packages without in-person ID—especially if your business is registered and listed on the USPS form 3533. You’ll still need a lease or proof of business location, but staff often bypass full identity checks for registered businesses. Avoid standalone residential lockboxes—they almost always require ID verification.
For personal mail, USPS lockboxes at certain post offices allow account setup via online verification alone—no visit needed—when paired with a commercial address. Select CMRAs also offer package hold and scan-on-demand services, letting you approve or decline mail remotely. Confirm with each location whether they accept third-party packages before signing up, since policies vary by franchise owner.
Private CMRAs often provide mail forwarding, hold, and scanning services as part of monthly packages. Some include signature confirmation and photo proof of mail received. Look for ones with USPS Form 1583 compliance—they’re more likely to accept business mail without in-person ID. Avoid locations that list ‘residential only’ addresses on their signage or website.
