Ankrum Wine
A quietly influential winemaker’s personal project in northern Sonoma, where old-vine fruit and meticulous craft meet in small-lot bottlings.
Ankrum Wine began as a side project for a pioneering woman who helped shape Napa’s early female winemaking community. Though she’s long since retired from commercial production, she still makes a few wines each year for close friends and chosen visitors. These are limited-release wines—no more than 100 cases per vineyard block—and only shared through private appointments she personally approves. The wines come from select sites in Sonoma, each chosen for its quiet power and authenticity.
Visits take place in a converted barn surrounded by vines and oak grove—no tasting room, no signage, just genuine hospitality. You’ll taste from concrete eggs, neutral oak, and foudre, comparing the same vineyard fruit across vessels and vintages. The winemaker guides you herself, not with lecture, but with quiet explanation, drawing connections between soil, season, and bottle. There’s no rush to sell, only to share and listen.
Because appointments are by invitation and space is extremely limited, bookings require planning and flexibility. We coordinate directly with the team to align your visit around her availability and the wine’s rhythm—grape harvest, fermentation pace, or aging milestones. This is not mass tourism, but conversation and craft, a rare window into how a winemaker thinks when no one’s watching.
