This calendar is updated every Sunday by volunteers who physically cross-check events: one verifies flyers taped to light poles near Econo Lodge, another knocks on doors at the Orange County Fairgrounds annex to confirm street noise policies. Listings exclude anything requiring a corporate login—only events with walk-up sign-ups, open mics with no sign-up sheet on the wall, or recurring church dinners posted on whiteboards. A zine release at a garage in Audubon Park made the cut because three different attendees confirmed the address changed from last month.
Each entry includes location type (not just address), accessibility notes—ramp access, hearing loops, whether the back door opens—but never ticket prices or exact entry times. The calendar groups by organizer type: mutual aid networks, independent music co-ops, spiritual groups, queer youth collectives. Someone planning a Sunday brunch might skip the church bake sale if they see two overlapping entries—and then call the second to see if they’ll serve the same sweet potatoes.
The feed only updates when verified—no auto-scraping, no RSVP imports. A listing disappears the day after it happens or if a venue retracts it. One entry for a spoken word night in a former laundromat vanished because the host realized the building was scheduled for demolition Tuesday morning. The community itself vetoes missteps, tagging posts that feel off. It’s not fast—but it’s true.
