Environment
Your project timeline lives in context—sketch your physical space, layer schedules above, and move through time within the actual venue.
Upload a CAD sketch of your soundstage or walk in a LIDAR scan—4D.io imports it as your base plane. Then drag a schedule strip over it: crane hooks align with rig points, lighting rigs hover above set platforms, and crew flow paths trace beneath them. You see if the ‘camera move’ ribbon passes over the ‘set walkway’ or blocks it, and adjust before one prop truck rolls in.
This contextual layer prevents spatial surprises. If a critical sequence lies over a structural column, the strip glows amber and shifts up or down with a drag. Walk through your schedule by standing at the entrance and stepping forward—you see nodes light up in order, revealing gaps or overlaps where time and space don’t align. Your team points at the model and says, ‘Here’s where we’ll be in 45 minutes.’
Use environment to rehearse real-world moves: overlay a ‘load-in’ schedule and watch how each box moves across the floorplan, noting where trucks park, where staging piles up. Add a temporal scale—each hour spans ten centimeters—and see how fast the load-in ribbon unwinds. The schedule stops being abstract and starts feeling like ground beneath your feet.
